Strengthening Diplomatic Relations Between Rwanda and Guinea
Between 2023 and 2024, Guinea opened an embassy in Kigali, inaugurated during President Mamadi Doumbouya’s visit in January 2024, followed by reciprocal visits between the two leaders. This new chapter culminated in October 2024 with the first Rwanda-Guinea Joint Cooperation Commission in Kigali, where twelve key cooperation agreements were signed in the areas of governance, trade, security, and economic development.
Our History
Before French colonization, Guinea was part of the great empires of West Africa. In 1958, it became the first French colony in Africa to gain independence, under the leadership of Ahmed Sékou Touré. Today, it is recognized for its rich cultural heritage and resilience.
