POLITICAL COOPERATION
Political cooperation between the government of the Republic of Guinea and the Republic of Rwanda is based on foundational agreements that define the institutional framework of the bilateral partnership.
The first major instrument is the Framework Cooperation Agreement.Signed on March 9, 2016 in Conakry. This agreement sets out the general principles of collaboration and establishes permanent mechanisms for consultation.
A Protocol on Local Administration and Decentralized Governance was signed on May 13, 2016, in Kigali. Its aim is to promote the exchange of good practices in local governance .
On April 18, 2023, in Conakry, an agreement establishing the Joint High Commission for Cooperation was signed between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs. This commission is the main body for bilateral follow-up and marks the reactivation and strengthening of bilateral relations .
Finally, on October 9, 2024 in Kigali, the two countries confirmed their commitment to intensifying multi-sectoral cooperation by signing new cooperation agreements.
